I have been eating fake meats for a while now. When out at some restaurants that stock Beyond or Impossible, even at the global fast-food giants, I have opted for the fake-meat burger rather than meat.
The burgers are generally quite good, better than some meat ones that I have eaten, but always a sense that they are not quite right.
Enter Juicy Marbles, the Slovenian company who are at the new cutting edge of the fake-meat industry. Their launch product is the 4oz fillet, and they have recently launched a 26.7oz (756g) whole loin (perfect for wellingtons!)
They are not cheap. 4 x fillets are €30 in the EU, or if you buy 8 for €60 then they will give free shipping. However, for me, they are worth it as a treat. And treat it should be.
The ingredients, which are freely shared on their website, are not a surprise, with soy and wheat protein and some of the usual suspects. Highly processed, but nothing I would be worried about eating - in moderation.
If you are staying away from meat, for whatever reason, but hanker after a meaty treat, then these are definitely worth trying.
