Really love this latest acquisition from Blendjet (other similar brands are available). I will admit that it was a completely impulse purchase from an Instagram ad, but it was worth it!
I have a few different "choppers", all of them in the small category. One was getting towards retirement, with bits of plastic broken off over the years, so I had been on the lookout for a replacement.
I have a small Magic Bullet (smaller cousin of the Nutribullet) that does great, but has a limit on volume. It is a great performer though.
The Blendjet appealed to me because of its portability. It has a rechargeable battery so it is always ready to go for me, no messing with plugs and cables to worry about when I want to use it. And then it is really easy to clean afterwards!
These are advertised as portable smoothie makers, but they are awesome for making quick sauces for dinner! For example, I use it to make my tofu carbonara sauce. It whizzes it up in seconds.
Tonight I put a chopped green bell pepper and a handful of cherry tomatoes into a hot dry pan and allowed them to char a little. They went into the Blendjet with some handfuls of spinach, a good dash of red wine, some fresh basil and a teaspoon of dried mixed herbs, and some stock made with a meat-free OXO cube. Once whizzed up, I poured this over some fried onion and garlic and then added some chopped pak choi. A really quick pasta sauce!
These choppers can be picked up quite inexpensively, and make a big difference for quick dinner prep from great fresh ingredients.
