Just because you have a salami shaped seitan log, it doesn't mean you can only cut it into round slices for sandwiches! (Although, that is a pretty good use of it!)
One of the biggest selling fast foods worldwide is the doner kebab. A vertical cone of seasoned meat, on a vertical rotisserie, with thin slices carved off as the brown. This is generally served with a spicy red sauce, maybe a yoghurt basdd white sauce, and some vegetables, on a pita or in a wrap.
For this recipe I simply cut the seitan sausage along its length to create the typical tranches, enough to cover the base of a hot pan with some oil in it. Then sautéed until coloured on each side.
I made a quick red sauce by whizzing up a garlic clove, a shalot, a small chilli, a good squeeze of tomato purée, a squeeze of lemon juice, and some water in a food processor. I poured this in on top of the fried slices and mix around to cook the sauce and well coat the seitan.
I put the seitan on the wrap, added some yoghurt and spinach, and wrapped it up. It was delicious!
